Outsourcing Thinking (and Understanding)
This is a popular recent tweet, and Andrej retweeted saying that he has been citing it a lot.
you can outsource your thinking but you cannot outsource your understanding
According to me, this is the most important problem being faced by humanity today. You don't have to think much when AI can do the thinking for you. But you need real understanding before doing something, or you are passing on the responsibility to AI completely.
I want to take it one step further:
you cannot outsource your thinking completely
Completely outsourcing your thinking all the time means you slowly erode your capacity to think over time. This in turn is going to erode your capacity to understand.
