Shinkansen doesn’t feel very fast when inside, but you do the math of distance vs. time and there is no other explanation but that it’s extremely high speed.
Kyoto is crowded, especially after having been in Tokyo and Takayama during Golden Week. But so far the crowd seems to just keep moving and you blend in. At least in the Gion area.
Bought my first automatic watch at Kuoe Kyoto. It was a unique buying experience at Kuoe - less like a showroom and more like an experience centre where you converse with the rep and customise your watch.
There was a Jins right outside Kuoe, and found myself a nice pair of sunglasses. I didn’t really need one, but I figured it’s a purchase for life and worth buying.
It can be super sunny during the day in Kyoto but the evening can suddenly turn out to be very chilly. Carry a layer even though it’s another thing to carry throughout the day. We had to rush to a nearby Uniqlo and buy layers.
