Japan Observations - Day 4
We spent the day visiting Shirakawa-go for the first half and then spent the rest of the day back in Takayama.
- The roads were so impressive in the mountains - with flyovers to avoid intersections and many tunnels.
- Japanese desserts are nice. Mildly sweet. Very soft breads. Even the ones bought at conbinis.
- While the conbinis were nice, they use too much plastic for foods. Hope it is safe for those who consume on a long term.
- Announcements in trains and buses are genuinely helpful. Like when the shinkansen train conductor announced that Fuji is visible on the right, Hida train recording giving useful info about the river along the way with historical context, bus recording with info about Shirakawa-go. These are regular trains and buses, and not specifically tourist ones.
- Default AC setting in hotels feels comfortable at first but wakes you up sweating in the night.
