Japan Observations - Day 1
Observations from our first day of Japan. We landed at Narita Airport, reached the hotel and then went out for a brief exploration of the neighbourhood.
- Vismay goes to the toilet at the airport. He comes back excited that there was a cushion where the plastic seat usually is.
- Later I go to another toilet at the airport. Mildly disappointed that it’s a regular plastic seat at first, but then it turns to a very pleasant surprise when I feel how warm the seat is. And then when the business is done, so many options available to clean my devices. Rear, front, etc. And a button to stop when I’m satisfied.
- At the JR office in Narita airport, while we are buying the Welcome Suica cards, an attendant notices Vismay being curious and makes a few origami frogs for him.
- Interesting to see so many paddy fields on the way from Narita airport to the Tokyo city.
- On the train from airport to the hotel, I didn’t see one Android phone.
- Figuring out exits in train stations is an experience.
- Many people wear masks in trains and their design/fit seems so good. Covers the nose and mouth areas so well. Don’t understand why this hasn’t been copied in India. The N95 or the surgical masks we get are so ill fitting.
- Pedestrian lights have “11” lit up most times. At first I thought the countdown is broken. Then realised that the two vertical light bars shrink in size indicating the time left for either red or green light to complete.
